Buying new upholstered furniture at the cottage or in the workshop is not always advisable, but I don’t want to put any trash either. If you do not know how to equip a room, make a sofa with your own hands from available materials. Yes, you have to spend a little, but in any case it will turn out cheaper.
The main stages of work
First of all, it is necessary to make a wooden frame for the sofa - for this, we cut the boards to the size, in accordance with the drawing, then we cut the thorn-groove connection at the ends of the boards, and then we assemble a rectangular frame. Level the surface of the frame with a manual or electric planer.
In the center of the longitudinal boards, we select the groove for the installation of the jumper (a profile pipe of square section is suitable as a jumper). After you set the profile, you need to screw it with screws. Then, on the inside of the frame, we fasten the plywood rail, on which we then lay the OSB sheet.
At the next stage of work, we grind the outer surface of the wooden frame, the edges of the boards (inside and outside) must be passed with a manual milling cutter. The treated surface is covered with a layer of mineral oil or colorless varnish.
Sofa assembly process
On top of the "substrate" of OSB we lay a spring mesh, which is usually used in the manufacture of spring mattresses. From profile pipes, we weld the back and armrests with legs, which are screwed to the main wooden frame with bolts and nuts.
Then, pieces of rectangular shape should be cut out of the foam rubber and glued over with synthetic winterizer or other similar material. Next, we put a fabric cover on the resulting "pillows" and lay them on the sofa. The sofa turned out, although simple, but very convenient - for a summer residence or workshop, ideal. However, at home he will be "his own board."
