For cutting metal with a grinder, you can use both an abrasive and a diamond blade. But their cost varies greatly. And so many people have a completely logical question: which of these discs does its job better?

If we compare by cutting time, then diamond and abrasive discs are cut approximately the same. True, a profile pipe with a thickness of two millimeters was chosen as the “test subject”. How things will be when cutting thick metal is not yet clear.

The abrasive wheel for metal cuts softer, while the diamond disc is left burrs and burrs. Therefore, if you need a clean cut, it is better to give preference to abrasive. But at the same time, the diamond disc gives fewer sparks and does not leave an unpleasant odor.

Advantages and disadvantages of metal discs

Of the advantages of the abrasive wheel for angle grinders, it is worth noting the low cost, clean cut, and it also cuts metal softer. Despite the fact that instead of one diamond disk, you can buy a whole pack of simple ones, this very one diamond disk will replace the whole pack and you don’t have to constantly run after a new circle.

In addition, the diamond disc is safer to use, since it will not fly apart if the angle grinder is stuck.
