This workshop will teach you how to hang a hook in the bathroom on the screws. Accessories on suction cups do not require drilling walls, however, the hook will be held most reliably due to fasteners.
Preparation for work
First you need to outline the places for drilling. It is recommended to make them in the seam between the ceramic tiles. When drilling the tile itself, there is a risk of damage to the canvas. And then replacing a broken tile will not be so simple because of its possible absence.
We attach the hook to the desired level and draw points with a pencil through its holes.
We prepare a puncher or drill for work. The choice of tool depends on the material of the walls. It is better to drill concrete partitions with a perforator, a conventional drill will cope with a brick and drywall.
Drill selection
We select a drill with a suitable diameter. For this case, a size of 5x85 mm is suitable. In addition, it is worth considering what type of walls we will drill. For example, concrete will not “take” a drill designed for wood or brick. For such a solid material it is necessary to win - an alloy of tungsten and cobalt, which in its properties is not inferior to diamond.
You can determine for what material this or that drill is intended by its tip and color. For example, augers for wood have a sharp tip and a steel shade, and for metal - cone-shaped. The drill for concrete has a lamellar soldering and characteristic white color.
How to drill a wall and hang a hook?
The shaft of the punch or drill shaft must not be clogged, so before inserting the drill, the tool must be cleaned. We bring it strictly perpendicular to the wall, lightly press the rotation enable button. Concrete dust will fall to the floor during operation. This can be prevented if the assistant keeps a paper bag under the hammer while drilling.
Having drilled a wall a little, we insert the plastic expansion bolt shield into an opening and we try on its necessary depth. In this case, its size is 5x30 mm. Professionals use full-time depth gauges for fitting. As soon as we get a hole of the required length, we finally fix the dowel in the wall.
We attach a hook to the finished holes, take a screwdriver and screws. Screw them to the end. You can use a screwdriver, but for the sake of two screws it does not make sense to get it.
At the end of the work, make sure that the hook does not hang and is securely fixed to the wall.
