The main materials that will be used for making a homemade weld are: steel corner 40x40 mm 120 cm long (12 pieces in total), as well as a meter section of the corner 63x63 mm and two steel strips 20 mm wide and 100 cm long. This is the basis design, but in the process, you will need other components.
From a corner of 40x40 mm it is necessary to cut pieces of 93 mm in length - two such segments are necessary for one shaft. Next, we make the base of the clamp. To do this, weld together two corners and a steel plate between them. At the edges of the base, cut short pieces of corners with a length of 93 mm are welded. At one end, the “shorty” is welded from above, at the other from below.
The main stages of assembly work
At the next stage, it is necessary to make back stops from the 63rd corner and clamps, in which through holes with a diameter of 16 mm are drilled. Clamps for wymes are also made from a corner of 63x63 mm.
Also, for fixing the clamps, you will additionally need to buy M16 bolts with washers and elongated nuts. In the manufacture of the stop bolt must be welded to the plate. Then the tensioning mechanism of the shaft is made from an elongated nut and stud.
