Compact mini-vices made by yourself from scraps of metal and shaped pipes can be used as an additional fixture to a factory or home-made drilling machine - with this homemade tool you can fix bars and boards of different sizes to drill a precise hole in them.

To make home-made mini-vices you will need available materials that will always be in the workshop:

  • three pieces of a steel plate;
  • corner 40x40 mm;
  • sections of a profile pipe;
  • wing bolt;
  • hairpin with a collar.

The main stages of work

First, we make the marking on the plates and profile pipes, after which we drill holes in the blanks on a drilling machine or using an electric drill. From short sections of a square profile a L-shaped part is welded into which a piece of a hairpin with a screw is screwed.

Then two steel plates are welded together (stacked one on top of the other) - a piece of a rectangular profile pipe is welded to the long plate under the guide. An angle of 40x40 mm is welded to it from above. A piece of plate with an opening for attaching a clamping “finger” is welded to the guide profile.

At the last stage of work, we clean the places of welds, after which we cover the surface of the parts with spray paint from a spray can and proceed to the assembly of the structure. We glue the guide with holes from the profile pipe with masking tape - it does not need to be painted.
