In a modern interior, you can often find pieces of furniture (shelves, bedside tables, etc.) and various products made of burnt wood. Such things look really quite original.
That's just to consolidate the effect in the firing process and subsequent machining, you need to choose the right oil, which usually covers the finished product.
Equally important is the choice of wood. Softwood blanks are most often used for firing. Why? Yes, because the meaning of firing is to deepen the soft layers of the wood relatively hard.
If you use, for example, blanks made of beech, birch or oak, then no effect will be obtained.
What tree oil to choose?
In this review, the author decided to conduct an experiment, which oil is best suited for the treatment of burnt wood. For this, the workpiece was divided into two parts.
The author processes one half of the board with solid wax oil (intended for surface treatment of furniture and countertops), and the other with tinted oil for processing solid wood.
As a result of the experiment, it turned out that colorless oil with wax is better suited for charred wood than oil with color. Moreover, the difference is quite significant.
