In this review, the author shows how to make a simple desktop version of a quick-clamp clamp, which is useful in a home workshop when gluing blanks.
The first step is to print a template of the parts on paper, and cut them out with scissors. Then we transfer these patterns to sheet metal and cut them out too. In the blanks we drill holes according to the marking.
The next step will require a bending machine, on which it will be necessary to bend the edges of the parts. Of these, the author then makes a handle for the clamp (about the same as on the sealant gun).
Homemade manufacturing process
After you have made the handle, you will need to do the rest of the details: two plates with holes and a rod from a steel bar. You will also need a pair of springs.
The author makes the guide out of a piece of steel strip. It is necessary to weld a rectangular metal plate to it at right angles. When all the parts are ready, you can start assembling.
The handle with the "trigger" must be welded to the plate mounted on the guide. Then the remaining parts are installed.
At the last stage, the author cuts the clamping sponge from a piece of metal, and then fastens it to the end of the stem. The second sponge can be cut off from the old clamp, it is attached to the table.
