In this review, the author offers the idea of how to make an original doorknob of steel wire 3 mm thick with your own hands.
Such a homemade handle will look great on the front wooden door. At the same time, it will be much cheaper than premium premium pens.
First of all, it is necessary to twist the wire 3 mm thick into a double "pigtail" (or "braid"). For this, the master uses a screwdriver.
Then the resulting “pigtail” of wire will need to be cut into individual pieces of the desired length (in this case, 200 mm).
The main stages of work
For the manufacture of one door handle, nine twisted braids and one steel bar with a diameter of 10 mm will be required.
You will also need two plugs that are installed on the ends of the handle. Their author made of a round metal pipe with a diameter of 20 mm.
A groove was made on the lathe. Also, the master made "mushrooms" from steel round timber. If there is no lathe in the workshop, you can make the plugs simpler.
Pigtails will need to be scalded around a steel bar at the top and bottom. First, they must be fixed with ties, so that during the welding process they "do not run away."
The next step is to put on the plugs and scald them from the inside. "Mushrooms" for plugs are hammered.
And then it remains only to make and weld the last two parts from pieces of twisted pipes and metal "nickels". We clean welds and paint the finished product.
