When there is no leaving behind the earth, all kinds of weeds, shrubs and trees grow wildly on it. Moreover, even plants of cultivars begin to run wild - you can no longer expect benefits from them, but they create a lot of problems.
To remove such "game" with a hacksaw is tiring and unproductive, chopping with an ax is not easier and also to no avail. The best chainsaw will not help either: thin and flexible stems will slide off the saw chain with almost no damage.
You can get out of the situation if you equip the chainsaw with a device that does not allow the stems of shrubs and young trees to slide off the saw chain. Then you can quickly and easily clean the area from spontaneously overgrown shrubs and trees.

For this you need:

chainsaw of any brand;
strip of ferrous metal;
grinder with a cutting disc;
metal ruler and pencil;
fasteners from a bolt, nut and two flat washers;
spray can of red spray paint;
spanners.

Revision idea

The device to be made and installed on a chainsaw will consist of a longitudinal strip equal in length to the guide bar, with transverse pointed strips welded to it, protruding above and below the limits of the guide bar. Their purpose is to cut and hold the stems of shrubs and trees on the saw chain.

Chainsaw Tool Manufacturing Process

We lay the chainsaw guide rail on a flat surface. Using it as a template, measure the length of the metal strip and mark this place with a pencil.

Cut off the required length with a grinder.

Also, focusing on the width of the guide rail, we determine the length of the transverse elements of the device. In total, we cut off by marking 4 identical transverse elements.

We mark with a ruler and a pencil the sharpening of the transverse stripes on both sides and with the help of a grinder we carry it out.
We spread out evenly along the length, starting from the outer end of the longitudinal strip, transverse strips and with a pencil mark the places of their welding.
We perform “peak” welding on the marking to the longitudinal base.

At the end close to the engine, we weld a strip that will go under the flanging of the body, and serve as the front attachment of the device to the chainsaw.
Between the first from the end and the second crossbeam, we drill a hole in the longitudinal element with the specification of the place along the existing hole in the guide rail.

We paint the structure with red paint from an aerosol spray can.

We lay the fixture with the longitudinal element on the guide tire, leading the crossbar under the flanging, and finally fix it with a bolted connection on the other end of the tire.

Result

In fact, with our home-made device, we turned a chainsaw into a chain trimmer. But the classic gasoline braid works at high speeds, which can not be said about the saw chain. However, we compensated for this by the presence of transverse "peaks" that hold the stems on the saw chain, and it easily cuts them individually and even in a group, despite the low revs.
